National Show Chair Guidelines
  1. The CCA Show Chair will hire a show superintendent for CCA’s Fall National Specialties. Clubs hosting the Spring Rotating Specialty will hire a show superintendent. The CCA Show Chair will use the host club’s show superintendent for the CCA Rotating Specialty. Each superintendent MUST AGREE to provide a scale for use during judging at the events and agree that the scale will be placed in full view.
  2. The CCA will sponsor a full day of education to be held on Thursday before the Fall National Specialty weekend. The Members’ Education Seminar chair will be the Past President who will submit a list of possible speakers for the Board’s consideration. When a selection is made, the chair will be responsible for contacting and arranging for the speaker. The chair (with the Show Chair’s assistance) will assist the speaker with the hotel accommodations and with the seminar location and equipment. The chair will also be responsible for publicizing the seminar details in the AKC Gazette, premium list and the Chi-Chatter.
  3. At the discretion of the Show Chair, vendors shall have the option of being inside the show room or in an adjoining area at the Specialty. The charges for vendor space at CCA specialties are: $50 per space for one day; $75 per space for two days and $100 for the weekend.
  4. Parking confirmation status to be sent to RV owners prior to entries closing.
  5. The Chihuahua Club of America has issued “Guidelines for Hotel Maintenance” during specialties and will revise as necessary. Current “Guidelines for Hotel Maintenance” will be published in each CCA premium list and the Chi-Chatter and will be presented at the time of check-in for a required signature.
  6. The Chihuahua Club of America will have a reduced rate for Bred by Exhibitor and Puppy classes at its specialties. The Club will offer 12-18 months classes but not at a reduced rate. The Club will offer Junior Showmanship classes with no entry fee. At all future CCA Specialties, Junior Showmanship will begin with the Senior classes and proceed through the Junior classes.
  7. At Fall specialty shows of the Chihuahua Club of America, the premium list will state that conformation classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday. The practice of alternating varieties will be adhered to as much as possible. 8. The judging schedule will indicate that all “Best” Inter-Variety non-regular classes will be held immediately prior to Best of Breed judging. (SR4 Oct97) If any dog is eligible for Best Puppy, Best Bred By Exhibitor, Best American Bred, or Best Veteran and is also undefeated and eligible for Best of Breed or BOS to Best of Breed, that competition will be held following Best of Breed or BOS to Best of Breed.
  8. The Club will hold a Parade of Title Holders, to include obedience-titled dogs.
  9. Obedience will be a permanent part of the annual Fall Specialty Show.
  10. The Chihuahua Club of America will publish the complete lists of Brest of Breed and High in Trial dogs and the current Breed Standard in the catalogs of the Fall National and Spring Rotating specialties.
  11. A Welcoming Committee will be created, (when volunteers are available), to greet and welcome exhibitors to the Fall National Specialty. The committee will be under the guidance of the CCA Show Chair.
  12. The Chihuahua Club of America will host a Welcoming party on Thursday evening as part of the Fall National Specialty weekend in Chicago. All members and attendees are invited to enjoy socializing with other Chihuahua fanciers. The party will serve as a special welcome to first time attendees and as an introduction to new members.
  13. At all National specialties, no seats may be reserved the night before. It is on a first come, first serve basis each morning of the show.
  14. The Show Chair will provide and present gifts to the judges of CCA specialties. A plaque will be presented to the Sweepstakes judge at the General Meeting. The Breed judges gift will be presented at the banquet, if the judge attends.
  15. The owners of the Best of Breed and High in Trial winners at the Fall National Specialty are responsible for sending the photograph (accompanied by the appropriate documentation supplied by the Club) to the AKC for publication in the AKC Gazette.
  16. The CCA will reimburse the Show Chair. for reasonable expenses for transportation, meals and hotel room, for both Nationals. Justification of expenses may be required.
  17. CCA will not permit “for profit” video taping at its specialties.
  18. The Show Chair is responsible for providing a show report and the superintendent’s report for each CCA Specialty for publication in the Chi-Chatter issue that follows each specialty. The reports must be received by the editor prior to the issue’s deadline date.
